Get rid of Dark Spots and Acne Scars safely

Since my early teens, I worshiped the sun and took any opportunity to sunbathe just to get that golden glow tan. And when puberty hit I believed that the sun will help zap and dry out my acne breakouts. Hahah, as a result in my mid 20’s I started to see dark spots on my body but face especially as well as some acne scaring which obviously were not appealing and I wanted them to be gone!

The most common cause for brown spots is sun damage and usually appears on areas of the skin that are naturally exposed to the sun, such as the face, back and arms. … They can cause existing brown spots to darken or cause new ones. This skin condition is called melasma”

Acne scars are the result of tissue damage caused by inflammatory acne“. Unhealed acne if exposed to sun, will result in darkening of the skin (dark spots) in that effected area.

As I searched for answers, I heard that Microdermabrasion (cosmetic treatment in which the face is sprayed with exfoliant crystals to remove dead epidermal cells) was an effective but expensive ongoing treatment to pursue potentially, but I still wanted to find a more affordable, less complex solution. I came across a cream that promised to brighten the dark spots on my face if used daily, but the 8% glycolic acid (a chemical which once applied to skin, reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis, weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together. This allows the stratum corneum to be exfoliated, exposing live skin cells) was irritating to my sensitive skin and had to discontinue use. Then I was told the only way to get rid of the unwanted hyperpigmentation (common condition in which patches of skin become darker in color than the normal surrounding skin mainly due to injury such as cuts or sunburn, or other causes of inflammation like acne) was a Photo Facial (a 30-minute procedure in which intense pulses of laser light are used to penetrate deep into the skin causing collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness, dark spots and age lines) yet another expensive treatment that I wasn’t too keen on. I knew that exfoliating (removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface) your skin was always a great way to get rid of dead, dull skin, clean pores and prevent breakouts so I went on using facial scrubs hoping that this will help. And it may have to some degree but still did not get the results I wanted.

It wasn’t till I was introduced to Arbonne Skin Care, where I bought my first full RE9 Advanced set of Anti-Aging products. The addition to this set was the Arbonne Intelligence® Genius Nightly Resurfacing Pads and Resurfacing Solution and at the time I had no idea what it was, and what it was supposed to do. But anyway, I read the instructions and started to use it as an exfoliator before applying any of the RE9 skin care regimen. I quickly realized what a huge difference these pads made in the way my skin felt and looked.

It took me a few days to see significant changes, but after 1 week I noticed that my face was looking more evenly toned, less spotty and more glowy. I stopped wearing makeup foundation on daily basis because I felt more comfortable to show off my natural look, since for the first time in a long time it was less blotchy. I was thrilled to say the least, and shortly had my Mom and Mother In-law hooked on this Genius in a jar as well. It was literally Genius… like a mini Facial, or a mini Microdermabrasion session in my own home. The pads feel slightly rough but gentle enough to use on your delicate skin. I use it to gain elasticity and firmness on my face significantly reducing the look of dark spots, acne scars and preventing wrinkles (which thankfully I don’t have many). This treatment will remove the dead, rough layer of skin to help the appearance of a smooth & toned skin. It will take about a week or two, but if used regularly (however, no more than 2 times a week as you want to give your skin time in between to turn-over and re-grow) you will see overall improvement with scars, brown spots and wrinkles. I swear by this product. My best advice, (since I’ve been using the Genius Pads for over a year now)… use it every other day at first, you will see results quickly that way as you’ll be sweepping away dead skin layers. Once you get the hang of it I would recommend 2 times a week giving 3-4 days break in between, your skin will now be in a better shape and such frequent use is not necessary. For best results I recommend to finish your treatment off with either the Arbonne Intelligence Rejuvenating Cream or the Anti-Aging Arbonne RE9 Advanced Restorative Cream

  1. My mom has been looking for a way to get rid of the dark spots on her face. She has seen her dermatologist about it and the cream she was given didn’t work. I am really interested in passing this along to her because she is really bothered by them. Thanks for the info, I can’t wait to tell my mom.

    1. Thanks Melissa
It’s really worth a try, my mom is 65 and of course at that age wrinkles are an issue for many women. She LOVES this product as it helps with dark spots & wrinkles in her case. The package comes with 60 Resurfacing Pads, so if using them 3 times a week for ex. this product will last for 6 months which is also very affordable. If your mom decides to try, I would love to hear about the results from her 🙂

  2. Hi Agnes,

I never heard of this product before but it really sounds amazing!…I have a few sun spots that won’t go away, I tried different products in the past, but when summer comes and I spend a day outdoors they become really noticeable. Just one question, does this needs to be rinsed or can I use my regular makeup on top of it?…thanks for this article.

    1. Hi Lidia

The summer surely brings the dark spots to surface due to sun exposure. The Genius Pads will definitely keep them at bay. This does NOT need to be rinsed, the solution is very moisturising and contains ingredients which work to eliminate the dark spots while on the skin, therefore is advised to leave on, followed by your regular skincare regimen as well as makeup.

  3. This looks great! I don’t have acne scars or dark spots, but I have always been curious about microdermabrasion and how it can benefit my skin. Would this work great on any skin? Say to help fight or ward off wrinkles as we age? This is what I would want to use it for. I have heard of Arbonne and I know they have good products. Anything you would recommend?

    1. Hi there, yes The Genius Resurfacing Pads are great for any skin, but if you happen to have dry skin you will love this. The solution feels like dry oil, leaving your skin with a glow yet not greasy. I have oily skin and still use it as it’s moisture balanced and therefore great for all skin types. If you’re worried about wrinkles… I would also recommend the RE9 Advanced line best for 30+ with great results, the only warning about this line I would put out there is that it has high levels of Vitamin C, as its ment for anti-aging (some people have sensitivities to vitimin C).

  4. This is a great product review full of helpful information. I appreciate how detailed it is in giving helpful hints. One thing I like about this product is it’s perfect for sensitive skin. Some products are harsh and really sting.
Do you know the percentage of retinoids in this product? It’s not one of the first ingredients which is where I was hoping to find it.

    1. Hi Karen

Thank you, it’s really easy to review products that I myself use and love. I was looking up the info on retinoids for you but unfortunately they don’t disclose the amounts, just that it contains proprietary PBR+ complex, with Phytinol™, botanicals and retinoid. As for sensitive skin there is worries, I myself have oily but sensitive skin and I couldn’t be happier with my results after using this skin care item.

  5. Interesting product. I wanted to ask do you think using the tanning spas and all the synthetic tanning would produce the same skin problem you faced in your 20’s from the sun bathing a lot?

    1. Hi Ronnie

How ironic you should ask me this… I once owned my own Tanning Salon back in the day, and I used to use tanning beds all the time. That certainly did not help my skin, thus my search for a product to reverse my condition. So to answer your question… YES tanning beds are also harmful, they produce both UVA & UVB but in controlled amounts and time of exposure. Whereas the sun is a bit trickier, you never know how strong it is at a given time of the day and if you expose yourself too long it may result in severe burns. They are both similarly harmful to your skin.

Cheers, stay healthy & use sunscreen 🙂

  6. Hi Agnes, Ash here.

Great page here with an abundance of content relevant to your niche. Loved the informative introduction about how sun exposure is actually a detriment to the health of your skin, contrary to popular belief. This could enlighten a few individuals and surely change their habits.

You have provided a testimonial from a qualified professional in relevance to the product you are marketing, which is a powerful technique for harnessing trust within a product. Love the amount of information contained in your page and the strategically placed content.

Keep up the great work, cheers.

    1. Hi Ash

Wow, thank you for your kind words. When I hear such feedback it only motivates me do create more posts such as this one.
Thank you again for your valued opinion.

  7. Thanks for sharing all this great info about a product you’ve actually used. I have been looking for a way to get rid of my dark spots but it’s so hard to know what to trust online, whether someone is speaking from experience or just trying to sell something. I think I’m gonna give this system a shot!
